Gordon

Gordon Walker B.Ed (Hon). Cert.Ed.

Gordon worked as a commercial artist in the north west of England (mainly for Crown Paints) for several years before taking up a career in primary education.

His first teaching post was for six years in Blackburn, before moving to Cornwall in 1979. Having worked in several schools he was promoted to Deputy Head followed by his first Headship of St.Mawes Primary School on the picturesque Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall. Two further permanent headships followed interspersed with two short spells as a troubleshooting Acting Headteacher in Cornwall.

Gordon retired from Tywardreath School in Par, Cornwall in 2007 having served that school as a teacher for 3 years and as Head for 12 years. Twelve months later saw him again acting as troubleshooter in his role as Acting Headteacher at yet another cornish school for a further 2 terms.

Gordon has been involved in education for over 40 years and in 2002 was commended at the South West Teaching Awards ceremony mainly for his work highlighting the effects of "e" number additives on children's behaviour, which was highly publicised in the media.

Gordon still teaches regularly as well as running in-service art courses for primary school teachers. His hobbies are watercolour painting, cycling, gardening and watching football (too old to play now but he did until he was 54!).

Gordon is married with two grown up boys and lives in St.Austell, Cornwall.
